FootAR awarded at the SME Europe Awards

Creator of immersive experiences for sports fans, the eGamesLab member FootAR saw its work recognized at the SME Europe Awards.

FootAR, which creates immersive experiences for sports fans, was one of the big winners at the SME Europe Awards. The Madeiran startup was distinguished “for its excellence and innovation in the Immersive Realities, technology and games sector”.

“This recognition by SME Europe underlines FootAR’s commitment to technological innovation, but also the validation of its value proposition in the international market”, explains the startup in a statement.

The SME Europe Awards aim to promote best practices and encourage small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to access capital markets through an IPO, in a joint initiative of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, the EuropeanIssuers and the Federation of European Stock Exchanges (FESE). This was the first edition, with 13 companies being selected. FootAR was the only Portuguese representative.

MEP Cláudia Aguiar highlighted the “importance of these companies for economic growth and job creation, highlighting the unique role played by innovative companies, such as FootAR, both at national and European level”.

David Olim, co-founder and CEO of FootAR, considers the distinction as “a significant milestone for FootAR, revealing that the award is an additional stimulus for the future”.

“This award is a collective achievement, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our partners who, in various ways, contribute to the success of FootAR, among others to EIT digital, SME Europe, eGamesLab, Startup Portugal, Unicorn Facory Lisboa , Portugal Ventures, Startup Madeira and Invest Madeira, who have helped us on this journey”, says the entrepreneur.
