PACT – Alentejo Science and Technology Park has announced the launch of a new acceleration program dedicated to the video game industry . The initiative, called xBOOST , is part of the eGames Lab project , funded by the PRR, and aims to support entrepreneurs with innovative ideas in the gaming sector.
The program kicked off on April 15th with the opening of the application period (available until May 15th) and includes mentoring sessions with international experts, practical workshops, access to technological resources and opportunities to connect with the business ecosystem. The winning team will be awarded with a trip to Silicon Valley , in the United States – one of the world’s centers of technology and innovation.
The objective is clear: to transform promising ideas into viable and sustainable projects.
The program is open to students, young entrepreneurs and employees of start-ups that have been in business for less than two years. Anyone interested in an idea in the video game sector can submit their application through the official website: www.xboost.pt .
To mark the launch of the program, an event will take place on April 22nd , entitled UNLOCK , as part of the Employability and Innovation Fair of the Academic Association of the University of Évora . The session will take place in the amphitheater (Room 131) of Colégio Espírito Santo – Universidade de Évora , starting at 3 pm , and will feature the participation of entrepreneurs, professionals from the sector and YouTuber Nuno Agonia , winner of the Cinco Estrelas 2025 award in the Digital Influencers – Technology and Gaming category.
“The video games sector is one of the fastest growing in the world and offers huge potential for creating new businesses and jobs,” says Soumodip Sarkar, Executive Chairman of PACT . “The xBOOST programme, and all the initiatives we will promote under Unlock, are a response to this dynamic, seeking to empower Portuguese entrepreneurs and contribute to the development of the video games industry in Portugal.”
In addition to the training and mentoring component, xBOOST provides support in structuring the business model, access to financing and moments of contact with potential investors and strategic partners.
This is a bet on national talent and the creation of real growth opportunities for the video games sector in Portugal, with a special impact on the Alentejo region.
